Ermelinda Spinelli

Ermelinda Spinelli is a counsel of Freshfields and her practice covers various aspects of EU and Italian competition law. She has gained extensive experience on cartel and dominance investigations, antitrust compliance matters as well as multi-jurisdictional merger reviews, including several complex cases requiring remedies. She regularly coordinates antitrust due diligences in the context of merger proceedings and/or internal audits, and has gained antitrust litigation experience before the EU and national courts, as well as extensive experience in the field of consumer protection. She joined the Freshfields Brussels office in 2005, before moving to Milan in 2012. She was seconded to the Rome and London offices during her career.
Ermelinda graduated in law (J.D., summa cum laude) from the University of Pavia. In the same year, she was awarded the Freshfields/Financial Times Prize as ‘Best law student in Europe of the year’. She obtained a Ph.D. in European Law from the University Milan and is a member of the Italian Bar (Milan).
