Carles Esteva Mosso joined Latham & Watkins as antitrust partner in the Brussels office from the European Commission, where he was last Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General for Competition in charge of Merger Control (from 2014-2019) and of State Aids (from 2019-2021). He also held a number of other leadership posts relating to merger enforcement and competition policy. Carles has been actively involved in some of Europe’s most significant and complex merger control matters over the last two decades. He was one of the key architects of DG Comp’s merger policy, had a leading role in negotiating remedies in dozens of Phase II merger cases and was closely involved, providing direct advice to the Competition Commissioner, in all complex merger decisions.
