Nicola Pesaresi

Head of State aid Unit, Energy . DG Competition, European Commission

Nicola Pesaresi is Head of Unit at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission. He is currently responsible for State aid in the Energy sector. He has been previously responsible for cross-cutting policies and level playing field in the Task Force for the preparation and conduct of the negotiations with the United Kingdom under Art. 50 TFEU. He has previously been responsible for State aid policy, scrutiny and coordination.
He joined the European Commission in 1999 after working at the Bank of Italy, in the department for banking supervision, for nine years.
He is an economist by education and qualified for Yale University Master of Arts in Economics, and Bocconi University degree in Economics and Social Sciences. He was born in Italy in 1963.
