As governments and authorities continue to expand tools to more effectively regulate digital platforms, we are seeing an ever-increasing convergence and overlaps between data protection and competition laws. This panel will discuss some of the key recent developments at the intersection of the two regimes. The speakers will also consider some of the key questions that the regulators and the industry grapple with as the suite of new data & digital laws are coming into force: How could authorities ensure effective inter-disciplinary and cross-border collaboration? How competition law objectives should be balanced against consumer privacy rights? And what are the next steps that businesses should be taking to comply with the rules?”
