Elisabetta Iossa
Commissioner, Italian Antitrust Authority
Elisabetta Iossa was nominated Commissioner at the Italian Antitrust Authority on 1st February 2022. She is full Professor of Economics at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (on leave), Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Research (C.E.P.R., London), C.E.I.S-Tor Vergata and GREEN-Bocconi, and member of the Executive Committee of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics (E.A.R.I.E.). She was nominated Commissioner at the Italian Antitrust Authority on 1st February 2022. She obtained an M.Sc. in Economics at the University of York, a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Naples “Federico II” and a T.M.R. Marie Curie Post-doc European Fellowship at the Universitè Libre de Bruxelles (E.C.A.R.E.S.). Her work experience includes the Universitè de Liege (maitre de conferance), Universitè Libre de Bruxelles (suppléant) and Brunel University in West London where she worked for many years as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and then Full Professor. She was visiting scholar at Bristol University, Catholic University of Milan, Harvard University and Toulouse School of Economics.
Her research is in the field of industrial economics, with a focus on competition policy, public procurement and public-private partnerships. On these issues, she has assisted international institutions such as: European Commission, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, UK Antitrust Authority, UK Financial Service Authority, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Office of Fair Trading, IFAD-United Nations, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank.
Elisabetta Iossa has published on numerous international journals, including Games and Economic Behavior, Economic Journal, Journal of the European Economic Association, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Industrial Economics, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Journal of Law, Economics and Organization, Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Journal of Public Economics, Rand Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies.
