Alessandro Noce
Italian Competition Authority, Head of the Energy and Basic Industry Directorate
Born in Rome on 12 May 1965, Alessandro Noce graduated from the Luciano Manara High School in Rome, followed by a degree with honours in Economics from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ (1989) and a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Warwick, UK (1991). From 1991 to 1994 he worked as an economist at the Ufficio Studi of the Istituto Mobiliare Italiano (IMI); in 1994 he won the competition for a permanent official role at the Italian Competition Authority (Autorità Garante delle Concorrenza ed il Mercato – AGCM), from 1994 to 2006 he was an official in various organisational units of the ICA; in 2006 he was appointed Manager and between 2006 and 2008 he served as Deputy Director of the Agri-Food, Pharmaceutical and Transport Directorate of the Italian Competition Authority, where in 2008 he was appointed Head of the Energy Directorate; in 2014 he took on the role of Head of the Agri-Food, Pharmaceutical and Transport Directorate. From June 2021, he assumed the role of Head of the Energy and Basic Industry Directorate. He has written numerous articles on competition issues and lectured and has taken part in several conferences on topics of interest to the ICA.
