Merger control and antitrust developments in the energy sector

The panel will go through recent developments that are key for practitioners and in-house counsel when advising on M&A, joint ventures and compliance in the energy sector. The panel will in particular discuss the European Commission’s priorities in enforcing competition law in the energy sector and outlook for the year ahead; how regulators define relevant markets and assess mergers for “green energy” (hydrogen, renewables etc); fuel prices and antitrust action – a topic of interest to consumers given recent prices in the sector; common purchasing of gas and other initiatives.
