The new Foreign Subsidies Regulation: what will it mean for companies doing business in the EU?

Managed by Latham & Watkins
Latham & Watkins
In addition to its State Aid Control rules, the EU will soon get new powers for addressing distortions to the internal market created by foreign subsidies. The political agreement reached recently on the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, that will enter into force in mid-2023, has added a new tool in the EU armoury for protecting competition across the bloc.

This panel will consider:

  • How is the Commission going to enforce its new powers?
  • How companies operating in the EU will be affected by this new regulation?
  • The interplay between the new tools to tackle foreign subsidies and existing tools under competition and foreign investment control rules.
