Jeroen Capiau

Policy Officer in DG Competition, European Commission

Jeroen Capiau joined the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission in 2009. He is currently a policy officer in the unit that provides upstream support to case teams throughout all case stages and contributes to the development of competition policy. He is part of the team leading the European Commission’s ongoing review of the horizontal block exemption regulations on research & development and specialisation agreements and of the related horizontal guidelines, covering also sustainability agreements.

Previously, he worked for the Belgian Competition Authority, first, as a case handler in the investigation branch, and later became a member of the decision-making branch. Before working in the area of competition enforcement, he was a teaching assistant at the European Law Institute of the University of Ghent.
