Marieke heads the unit dealing with antitrust cases and policy in the energy and environment sector of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition. After some private practice in a Brussels law firm, Marieke joined the European Commission in 2007 where she has been working mainly on antitrust enforcement and policy with a particular focus on the IT and telecommunications sector. During recent years, she led among other things DG Competition’s work on the impact assessment for a New Competition Tool and the Commission proposal for the Digital Markets Act, as well as the review of the Vertical Block Exemption Regulation.
