Ellen Creighton
Assistant Deputy Commissioner, International Affairs at the Competition Bureau Canada
Ellen Creighton is the Assistant Deputy Commissioner – International Affairs at the Competition Bureau Canada. She has been in this role since November 2017.
She is responsible for coordinating the Competition Bureau’s international efforts and relationships. This includes liaising with foreign competition agencies and assisting on cases with complex coordination challenges. It also includes negotiating enforcement cooperation tools as well as the competition chapters in Canada’s Free Trade Agreements.
Ellen often represents Canada at international organizations including the Competition Committee at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. She helped initiate a global discussion on the link between gender and competition at the OECD. She also helped launch an OECD-directed research project that resulted in a toolkit for competition authorities to better integrate gender considerations in their work. Ellen is dedicated to building and maintaining a culture of accessibility and inclusion.
She served as the Department of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development’s first Accessibility Champion from May 2020-December 2022, and continues to serve as the Competition Bureau’s Accessibility Champion.
