Andrea Marván holds a Law Degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Chicago. She began her professional career at the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece) in 2012. At the Commission, she served as Deputy General Director of the Cartels Division and as Chief of Staff of the Head of the Investigative Authority. During her career in the Investigative Authority, Andrea was responsible for the strategy, planning, and supervision of high-impact investigations, as well as coordinating the Investigative Authority with other areas both within and outside of Cofece.
After nearly 10 years at the Investigative Authority, she was appointed General Director of Competition Advocacy, where she led Cofece’s regulatory and advocacy efforts with relevant stakeholders from the public, private, and academic sectors until December 2022, when she was appointed by the Federal Executive and ratified by the Mexican Senate as Commissioner of Cofece. Subsequently, Andrea was appointed as Cofece’s Chairwoman on March 15, 2023, by a unanimous vote of the Mexican Senate.
In the academic sector, she is a professor of “Competition Law” and “Administrative Law” at two top Mexican universities; she also teaches in the LLM course at one of these universities. Additionally, Andrea is the author of several articles and contributions to collective works related to competition and administrative law.
