Ermelinda Spinelli covers EU and Italian competition law, with particular experience of cartel and dominance investigations, State-aid cases, merger reviews and antitrust compliance.
She has also conducted several antitrust due diligences in the context of merger proceedings and internal audits, and gained antitrust litigation experience before the EU courts. Her experience crosses a range of industry sectors, including financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, technology and transport.
She graduated in law (J.D., summa cum laude) from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2004. In the same year, she was awarded the Freshfields/Financial Times Prize as ‘Best law student in Europe of the year’. She obtained a Ph.D. in European Law from the University Statale of Milan (Italy) and is a member of the Italian Bar (Milan).
Ermelinda is recognised since 2019 in Who’s Who Legal: Competition – Future Leaders and since 2020 as a National Leader. In 2023 she was also recognized in Who’s Who Legal: Competition – Global Elite Thought Leader She is also ranked since 2021 in Chambers and Partners: Competition/European Law.
She speaks Italian, English and French.
